How Assessment Works
Most qualifications are assessed through a mix of:

- Observation by an assessor
- Functional Skills assessments (where required)
Assessments measure real competence — not just theoretical knowledge.
What Learners Need to Show
To achieve their qualification, learners must demonstrate:

- Consistent performance over time
- Ability to meet the assessment criteria

Grading and Achievement
Most NOCN qualifications use:

There are no traditional letter grades.
Learners receive clear feedback and a plan for completing any outstanding work.
Internal Quality Assurance (IQA)
To ensure fairness and accuracy:
- Internal Quality Assurers sample assessment decisions
- Assessors receive regular standardisation
- Feedback is reviewed to ensure consistency
- Centre policies follow NOCN and Ofqual requirements
